A successful Laparoscopic repair of Hernia and adhesiolysis to relieve intestinal obstruction was done.

83 year old diabetic gentleman came with severe abdominal pain, vomiting, fever. He was found to have COVID-19 infection and intestinal obstruction secondary to Obstructed HERNIA.

A successful Laparoscopic repair of Hernia and adhesiolysis to relieve intestinal obstruction was done. Patient was kept in COVID ward for 4 days, and then discharged with advice to isolate for 10 days.

He recovered very well, with just 3 small punctures, no stitches to be removed, and moving about within few days.

Case published by Max Healthcare journal.

Salient points:

  • 1. Successful laparoscopic surgery was done inspite of patient being COVID positive, having intestinal obstruction and 83 year old.
  • 2. Even COVID patients can be given the benefit of Laparoscopic surgery.
  • 3. Successful laparoscopic surgery can be done even at advanced age.
  • 4. Minimally invasive surgery can be done even for obstructed hernia
  • 5. Team work with Anaesthesia is the key to success
